HDNet reported it tonight on Inside MMA.

And it looks like he's off to focus on kickboxing. Wonder if we'll see him in MMA again anytime soon.

Let him focus on his Kickboxing and when that's all said and done, if he still has an interest in MMA, i thing the UFC should sign him :D

Who knows what's going to happen to K-1 now that it's been sold.

I was never a big fan of the guy. It's a shame though because I wanted to see some legit contenders derail his fan base.

Well K1 isn't the be all and end all of kickboxing (well not anymore lol) and with a few organisations getting stronger Overeem has at least decent options.

I still think he will fight in the UFC soon, they are gonna need a top HW to come fight for the belt and nobody outside the UFC and SF can beat him

Honestly why would the UFC want to sign this guy after his last fight? He would probably only fight a couple years, maybe sprain his thumb in that time span. The guy would lose to JDS, Cain or any top heavyweight in the UFC. I think Mike Russow would show him whose boss.

Zuffa already said they will cut the loser of Fedor vs Hendo.. And Zuffa just cut Overeem so does that mean the ufc can still sign him?

I don't understand this at all.  I'm really confused.  Why the hell would you cut a consensus top3 HW in the world after a win?

Because of all the trouble he's caused since that win. Hell before that win he really wasn't doing Strikeforce any favours, only defending the belt once in three years while concentrating on K-1. Then in his Tournement match he dosen't impress (neither did Wredum but the hype wasn't on him) and after that he causes Strikeforce to make him drop out of the tournement only to turn around and say "yeah I'm gonna go kickboxing in October".

Strikeforce gets a backbone, says enough, we don't want the Heavyweight title to be held up any longer and decideds that Overeem is too much of a liability.

I understand that, but cutting him is a little odd to me.  SF are the dummy's that gave him a contract that allowed him to compete in K1 in the first place.
