HDNet reported it tonight on Inside MMA.

And it looks like he's off to focus on kickboxing. Wonder if we'll see him in MMA again anytime soon.

And if Strikeforce hadn't been brought by Zuffa then that would still be the case. But someone from the UFC (not Dana, unless you don't beleive he dosen't interefere with how they work) must have said "enough is enough"

I reckon we'll see Overeem in the UFC early next year.

If I had a fighter that came to me and said he wouldn't fight sooner because he needed time to recover from a broken toe, I would cut him to. Wimp.

That depends on the toe.  I broke my big toe in half (the bone) and I couldn't drive w/out severe, couldn't even put on flops it hurt so bad.  Walking.. I looked like an 80 yr old with arthretic knees.  I was out of commision for quite some time.

I understand all your points though.. I guess I was just really looking forward to seeing him fight the UFC HW's.

First thing i thought of when i read this was now that hes out of the tourny, they cut him so he could fight in the ufc.  If thats the case great, if its not and hes going to k1 ill still watch him there.

I've broken my index and pinkie toes in a soccer match. It is just a discomfort. I took a week and a half off and was fine after that. I can understand the big toe though it basically controls your equilibrium

I meant my toes. My biggest gripe with Overeem is what does he need another month for. I guess I take the Chael Sonnen approach to this in that this is the fighting business. If you don't want to fight then turn in your fighting papers. Since Overeem wouldn't do it Strikeforce just took them and I'm glad they did it.

Well thats the thing, I know that Dana doesn't "operate" with Strikeforce in any way, but do you think the UFC will sign him.

I think once Overeem's kickboxing commitments are done, he'll sign with the UFC.

@t0rch he is on a win streak so assuming he signs soon or goes undefeated in kickboxing they will.  Even if we disagree on his status in the rankings or skills he still is a very marketable fighter.

The Reem bluffed and Zuffa called it.

I think Overeem got used to pulling his **** with Strikeforce and now that Zuffa owns them he got called on it. Id be surprised if he didnt come back to mma soon. Whether or not you like him  he is a threat to anybody

This was the 3rd biggest surprise I saw when I got home from camping (1. Kyle Orton is still a Bronco 2. The Rockies traded Ubaldo Jimenez for 4 JV players) This should be an interesting situation and maybe he'll go get beat up by a Klitschko now
