So after watching the heavyweight grad prix last night, and cursing at a bartender for saying DC was fat, I have to say that what Zuffa has planned for DC is just plain ridiculous. As they are saying strikeforce has folded their heavyweight division into the UFC, however Cormier still has to fight one more time under the Strikeforce banner before moving to the UFC. I feel that this is kind of like giving him coal for a christmas present. I mean he just beat one of the all time greatest heavyweights in the history of MMA, and in my opinion the greatest heavyweight submission fighter no offense to those who believe otherwise, and he did it very convincingly. But, Josh Barnett gets to go to the UFC for his next fight, if they don't cut him which would be stupid, while Cormier has to wait for Strikeforce to find him someone to fight, because I seriously doubt that a UFC fighter will want to fight him in a non-title fight, outside of the UFC. What I say would be better for DC would be to either have a top title contender from the UFC fight him for a shot at the champion, or have Zuffa just say they will give him the title shot at the winner of Dos Santos vs Mir. My suggestion if they choose the first option is that they should make Overeem fight DC, either in the UFC or Strikeforce, at the end of the year for the No. 1 contender status. What do you guys think?

@lilspyder Zuffa would love to immediately bring Cormier over to the UFC.  But they can't, it's written into his contract that he's got to have 1 more Strikeforce fight.  Just the way it is.

I'm sure they'll give him a suitable opponent.  Someone that can test him.  Like...Arlovski.

Greg I understand this, but contracts can be broken every day, but then my first option covers that, have someone, like Allistair Overeem come and fight him for that last fight and then the winner gets a shot at the UFC title just like what was suppose to happen when the WEC, may the wonderful organization R.I.P., folded. Now I also have to point out that DC was the consummate professional last night in his in the ring interview, where he talked about how he just wanted to celebrate his win over Josh Barnett right now, and that he didn't really worry over what came next, and i say good on him for that because he's absolutely right, this is the biggest win of this very short career so far and it was magnificent!

to havoc that is a funny joke and to hdmexiqtioner, fedor has been stating that his next fight vs pedro rizzo would be his last, though that's a rumor.

Cormier needs to be tested, he was just put up against a good test in Barnett and shocked me! He was vicious and dominated the fight, DC has solid stand up, world class TD and he can pound you out on the ground. He is a threat to every HW in the UFC, JDS included.

I don't understand why this +1 fight on his contract is still in effect when there's not even a SF heavyweight title to fight for.  This extra fight is even more redundant than the Grand Prix finale.  There's no one under contract for him to even fight.  I'm not into law, but I don't see what's stopping them from breaking the contract in order to let Cormier sign with the UFC.

Anyway, whenever he does make it to the UFC I think he's earned a number one contender's fight with whoever's relevant at the time.  Velasquez would be perfect, but it'll never happen.

If Rothwell can get a top 10 win in before Cormier crosses over, that could be perfect.

I agree with Anik. His hype train is in full force at the moment. He's talented, but he's more a top 10 than a top 5 to me.

I find it really amazing that everyone is talking about Cormier as a challenger to JDS' belt and he has stated before that he could drop to 205 if he wanted to!

I'm by no means saying he should but it really is a testament to his talent that he has that option yet he's wrecking guys much bigger than him!

And after all the stuff he's been through, how can you not root for the guy even a little bit?
