A translation of every quote by him in the article:

"The people predicting my return around UFC 181 are wrong. 2014 is over to me. I could reasonably return by mid-2015."

"The "Champion Anderson Silva" days are over. Fighting for the belt is pretty far from me now."

"I don't see myself not fighting, but I don't know if I'll have the patience needed to honor the 10-fight deal. Although they know that this is what I love to do and that I need some time, my family has been asking for me to stop fighting for several years now. I wanted to become a reference in the sport, I've managed to do that."

So, what do you guys think? I personally don't think he should bother returning at all, he has been statistically declining and, according to himself, without the right mindset for great achievements. In other interviews, he claims to have "done enough" and that "his mission now lies elsewhere".

Not surprised. Most people were saying he'd be out for a year, which would mean end of 2014 in a best case scenario.

He's my favorite fighter, so anytime we get to see him fight is a treat. But if he never fought again, I wouldn't blame him.

I was really hoping for some kind of dramatic return to the octagon where he wins the belt back. he doesn't sound like hes too confident. who knows though anything can happen. who would he fight?

It's not about confidence anymore. When giving interviews to Brazilian journalists he said that he was getting old and he didn't want the belt anymore... In 2011. This is long overdue.
