Wow....Do not like this fight. Props to both guys if it happens though. Aldo's still the best FW behind Holloway, so it is still fighting a #1 Contender in my mind. Aldo gets an opportunity to prove he's still the best in the world. Surprised this is the fight the UFC put together though.

Did Aldo accept the fight? I would actually be a little surprised if Aldo took this fight on 22 days notice.

Really there isn't a much better option. Holloway vs Swanson, Lamas, or Aldo are all rematches. Edgar and Zombie are injured. The highest ranked guy who isn't injured or a rematch is Ortega and his name isn't well known yet.

Honestly disappointed that they made this rematch. Would rather see a fresh matchup versus Swanson. Swanson is on a four fight win streak since losing to Holloway. Don't see the logic behind the Aldo push again. He really doesn't sell fight and never has.

A lot of people were calling for Ortega and they still mjake a fight that only Brazillian will care about?

Don't see much appeal to this. They just fought and it sounds like Swanson is about to walk so giving him the title shot would have also made more sense IMO.

I keep forgetting that Aldo is still just 31 years old. However he appears as the former champion in decline versus a hungry young Lion who is just tearing through the division. I like Holloway doing it again, in Round 2, sending Aldo into Nirvana.

Yup ... because it's so easy to spam low kicks on a lanky guy with fantastic boxing like Holloway without getting countered.

I love how every time Aldo fights ppl think that low kicks are a magic option that he wins or loses whether he uses them or not.

you can spam low kicks on Urijah Faber, you can't spam them on Holloway, McGregor, Guys with length and top notch counter-punching.

I agree with Yoss, however I think if he could have incorporated those the fight may have had a different outcome.  Aldo was winning the fight before the third round, but Holloway (who was never a one-punch kind of guy) basically changed the course of the fight with one punch.

I simply don't trust in Aldo's chin anymore.

I feel like me and you saw two different fights.  It was hardly a single punch that change the fight. Aldo was burning way more energy then he could sustain and started slowing down, while Max was upping his pace. The better fighter was taking over, it was hardly a a single punch.

I never understood the "if he would just use his low kicks" thing. One of Max's best attacks is countering the low kick with a straight and he's nasty at it,which is obviously why Aldo and team didn't use them as much.I also hear people say Aldo should have gone for a lot of td's..and get tired even faster?Kind of a double edged sword.I'm not psyched with this match up but it should be fireworks again. The cards are stacked against Aldo especially with a camp shortened by 2 weeks.I really wish Edgar didn't get injured.

@Follow, I don't think Aldo was winning. Don't get me wrong, he did win the first 2 rounds, but he doesn't have 5 rounds of Holloway's pace in him.

Aldo has 5 rounds in him when he dictates the range and pace so that he can spurt in the last 1-1:30 mins of the rounds and take them, he can't do that against Holloway, so as soon as the second round ended without him finishing the fight, he was losing, whether it came in rounds 3, 4 or 5, he was going to lose, imo.

I don't like his chances in the rematch either. Again, he can potentially finish the fight in the first round or two (though Holloway has a great chin so I'm not betting on it), but as soon as the fight passes the 2.5 rounds mark I think Also starts getting dominated and wears down again. Especially since we all know how Aldo hates shorter camps and fights outside Brazil.

I've got Holloway TKO4, but another 3rd round TKO wouldn't surprise me. Then again, Aldo is still an all-time great so he could rise above how bad this stylistic matchup is for him. Question is if he believes he needs to dig deep into his greatness or is selling himself what you wrote about him winning the fight and only getting caught by one punch. If he believes the same thing you do, he's don't think he's got a chance if they make it to round 3.

Just my take of course, I've been wrong many times before ;)

I expect Holloway to be patient and calculated while Aldo starts into the 2nd overly aggressive.

I have the feeling that Aldo wins this one. Part of it is his history of toughness. If he loses, then I am not sure on what he does next.
