While obviously not being among those who do not like this very skilled MMA fighter, I can understand why some people in fact hold that sentiment:

1. He does not fight in the preferred style; that is, to finish fights, and to finish them as fast as possible.  Rashad does not have a Round 1 stoppage since 2004!

2. Some of his past antics; e.g., the infamous "Rashad Dance" from the Tom Murphy fight on TUF 2 and the junk-grab incident from his title fight vs. Forrest Griffin at UFC 92, are off-putting to some people.  Arguably, these people need to get a life, but still ...

3. The circumstances surrounding his departure from Greg Jackson's camp have earned him a reputation for, to put it politely, lacking a "stiff upper lip."

4. Some have questioned his sportsmanship: Not only did he neglect to attend the post-fight press conference following his lone loss, to Lyoto Machida at UFC 98, but someone in his entourage disabled the camera in his training area by throwing a towel over its lens, so that he could not be filmed.

Yet I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of people who disapprove of Rashad, for any of the above reasons or any combination thereof, have never met him personally - let alone many of his family members and trainers/coaches, as I have.  Rashad is a truly remarkable human being who has overcome myriad obstacles in his life, both personally and professionally.

Yes, sometimes people we love do things that we hate - but if we have any integrity whatsoever, this does not mean that we stop loving them.

Rashad turned his camera off to stop filming his life for awhile just after suffering the most embarrasing fight of his life?? NO WAY! .. How could he.

Well, he did; and to some people, that is an issue: Some made comments to the effect that, would Randy Couture have done that?

@macciefresh: I have actually postulated that the Rampage-Rashad "feud" is fake; even wrote an article to that effect, entitled UFC 114: The Sting. If you google that search term you can probably find the article.

Anything done on TUF has to be taken with a grain of salt. The underlying purpose of that show is to hype a PPV fight, and some guys are better at hyping than others; it's hard to manufacture animosity. The Rampage-Jones tension seems much more genuine.

@Blackwork: But the TUF finale is not on PPV.  It is shown on SpikeTV.

But that's alright.  As an old Ex-Lax commercial went, everyone needs help now and then! :)

The Rampage-Rashad fight was a PPV fight. They did not fight on the TUF finale, so not sure what your point is.

I don't dislike Rashad, but what he did in the Forrest fight was pretty classless.

1) Avoiding the fight against Thiago Silva.
2) Biotch move vs. Forrest
3) Not taking a fight while waiting for Shogun
4) The WORST Fred Sanford impersonation EVER

Awesome impersonation of his mother tho. Freakin' hilarious.

Anyone know what Anthony was referring to in his ex-lax post? My point was that TUF trys to build drama for coaches' PPV fights. Outside of maybe one of the Shamrock-Ortiz fights (which if I remember correctly, may have been free), haven't all of the coaches' fights been PPV?
