@DustinPoirier: "@FrigUrself: @DustinPoirier are you moving up to LW?" Yes

Interesting move. Apparently he walks at 180 and cuts are getting to be too much!

very similar weight classes. sounds like a good move if the cuts are killing him.

Agreed. It's the right move if he's feeling drained, etc. at 145. Honestly, sometimes fighting slightly bigger guys on a full gas tank is worth it. I have my theories that McGregor might actually be better at 155. 145 is a tough cut for him.

I think guys can cut too much and that has a negative effect on their performance and can also make you more susceptible to being KO'd.

I don't see this going any better for him. Erik Koch moved up after fighting him and we see where that went. Kinda surprised, he doesn't really seem like he should walk around at 180.

He is one of my favorite fighters and I hope this works out for him. However I think he had a better shot at a getting a title shot at 145, the 155 is a shark tank and he may have trouble. Will be interesting to see but I think he will have a harder time cracking the top ten at lightweight.

He wasn't cutting water from 180, he just walks around between camps at 180. You could tell he was way leaner in the McGregor fight than any other, so it's clear that he's got some wiggle room in the cut. I don't see any 145er doing better at 155, though.

@Poir in the video he says that he just woke up and is gonna show why he's going up to lightweight  and says he's in decent shape now. then he gets on the scale and shows he's at 180 and says That's why

I don't think his chances moving up a weight class and getting into the top 10 is very good. He pretty much a worse Cerrone in everyway.  He have a better chance at 145 at hanging around the top 10. In the current light weight division he going to be top 15 at best even then I have my doubts. He going to be out size, he going to be out powered by many of them and he not even going to have a speed advantage, because he not very fast. He also way to easy to hit. Can anyone name a single person in the top 10 that he have a good chance against? He could prove me wrong, but I don't think he will.

I thought 145 was a good weight class for him.  I just imagine a guy like Tony Ferguson dwarfing him, or a guy like Glieson Tibau who is about twice as wide as him, and an inch taller.

I think he's going to be like Nate Diaz fighting at 170.  He'll beat the lower to mid-tier guys he outclasses, but he won't have the strength to deal with most top 20 fighters.

I usually don't give much chance to fighters that go up a weight class. but there are exceptions, if he really walks at 180 and is not because he has a case of between fights gut, the he could have a chance to put on a decent run. but even if the size is not a factor he still has to deal with a bunch of  the toughest most talented fighters MMA has to offer, I could list them, but you already know them.

Poirier is one of my favorite fighters, I hope this is good for him, but I would't put my money on it.
