Topuria hits like a truck and has a much better ground game than Volk plus the youth, speed, strength advantage. He's a much better boxer and bjj practitioner. Volk's main weapon is his jab and constant stance switching to cause confusion which will not be enough to beat Topuria.

Volkanovski vs. Topuria Alexander Volkanovski, DEC Topuria being the early favorite on here shows how fickle mma fans are. I'm going to clown you all that picked the lil Spaniards when the time comes.

it's not being fickle, it's just being hesitant to pick a 35 year old that got ko'd a month ago (will be 4 months by the time of the fight) against someone with the boxing ability and power of Topuria. not saying you're wrong to pick Volk, he's the rightful favorite. but idk how anyone can be all that confident in him, this is an extremely dangerous fight for him no matter how you put it

Of course it's a dangerous fight. Just like every fight Volk has fought in the UFC (except Korean Zombie); only thing I can agree with is the age being 35, he's getting up there for Featherweight. And I'm not that worried about a 4 month turn around, he didn't get flatlined or slept out cold.
and I'm not even saying Topuria can't get it done he is arguably the worse stylist matchup for Volk other than Holloway; people on here tend to not have the best reading comprehension I said "Topuria being the early favorite...."
Meaning in no world should Ilia be the favorite in any scenario, people saw Volk attempt to be great against all odds and are holding it against him and you really can't say other wise, the Islam matchup should HARDLY be even mentioned as some kind of evidence to this matchup.

I fully agree with your last sentence, they're completely different matchups. the only worry from the Islam matchup is the damage he took — while he didn't get flatlined, the finish was still pretty brutal imo. maybe we have different notions of recovery, as well, but from what I've seen in this sport, 4 months after a finish like that simply isn't enough time for anyone, let alone a 35 year old. will he get away with it, coming back too soon? he very well might, because he's an incredibly talented fighter. but nonetheless it's a liability coming into this fight, especially with the previously mentioned boxing ability and power of Topuria. I also agree that Volk should be the favorite. I said that earlier. if you think it's a close fight, though, then idk why you would call Topuria backers fickle and clown them if Volk wins lol

Volk has a lot working against him, 35 years old (2-30 all time facing younger comp from 115-170), going down in weight after getting ko’ed, quick turnaround (I know he won’t be concussed but a 4 month turnaround after a brutal ko is rough, especially when you got ko’ed at 155 and are now cutting 10 more pounds), his mindset going into the islam fight was a little concerning too. Obviously volk is an all time great but his interviews going into the Islam fight were concerning
Regardless of the intangibles, I think ilia was and is always going to be his hardest test at 145. He’s well rounded everywhere and has been showing crazy improvements each fight.
