Just watched Rafael Xavier Vs Mateusz Strzelczyk on Dazn and I won't spoil the action for anyone who hasn't seen it, but what I will say and I put this out to each and every Tapology member... Despite our desire for watching blood, guts and glory, it is painful from my personal perspective when an MMA Referee is that incompetent that a fighter gets severely injured all because the Referee has simply no idea what they are doing inside the cage... A fighter's health in all combat sports situations should be of the upmost priority and when a fighter is no position to defend themselves fully, the bout should be immediately Stopped... The Referee from this particular bout wants to find another job because he needs to be struck off for incompetence and for allowing a fight to carry on far longer than it should have done, which ultimately endangered the health and life of one of the fighters.... Scandalous 🤔💯🥊🥊👊 I would love to hear filurther thoughts on this particular point... 💯

Was reluctant to pick Hathaway in this one. Mma has evolved since he last fought top level competition and he’s lost a step. He didn’t think this was the case because he fought and had a few bjj matches with a few journeymen. Not saying he’s done and I really wanted him to win but there’s a big difference between old former ufc fighters who got cut to young hungry fighters even if they aren’t ufc level

Langer took rounds 1, 4, and 5. They were all clean cut, too. The only alternative outcome that could be theoretically and therefore remotely possible, at best, would be a draw for Poppeck. That's a big IF, because it means the judges would have to score round 2 a 10-8 in his favor.

@JayHyde3858 the ref def had more than a few chances to stop that fight. But what about his corner? Whats their responsibility, should they step in for their fighter when they see a beatdown like that and when the refs job is questionable?

@ArneK to respond to your fair question, yes, unlike in Boxing, where Corner Teams do call a halt to a fight to protect their fighter where necessary, or where they throw in the towel if they see their fighter taking too much punishment, I don't tend to see this course of action in MMA all that often... But I do think that Corner Teams in MMA should start to also take more responsibility for their fighter and subsequently the Corner Team of Mateusz Strzelczyk were a disgrace in this evenings contest, as they should have realised the danger their fighter was in and therefore prevented him for going out for the third and final round , as Strzelczyk could hardly stand, never mind defend himself... It was in my humble opinion for the young man who was severely hurt in the contest, a sad state of affairs...
