"“The Last Emperor” has finally found his new home.

Sources close to the situation have told Combat Press that Fedor Emelianenko has officially signed with the UFC, with an official announcement set to be made in the coming weeks. According to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, Emelianenko is currently looking at options for his Octagon debut.

Although nothing has been confirmed as yet, a separate source indicated that there is a chance that Emelianenko will debut at UFC 193 in the co-main event for Melbourne’s first UFC visit. Although former K-1 champion Mark Hunt is already slated to compete in a rematch against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, “The Super Samoan” previously offered to welcome Emelianenko to the Octagon, and would be the likely opponent for Emelianenko if he fights in Melbourne. The event is headlined by a women’s bantamweight title bout between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm. The event, which takes place from Etihad Stadium, is expected to break the company’s attendance records with ease.

Emelianenko last fought in 2012 when he defeated Pedro Rizzo in the first round. He later announced his retirement following that bout. The legendary heavyweight was widely considered to be the best fighter in the world during his prime in the Japanese-based Pride organization. The Russian fighter claimed Pride’s heavyweight title in 2003 with a win over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and never relinquished the belt, defeating the likes of Nogueira, Mark Coleman, Kevin Randleman and the aforementioned Hunt along the way. He continued his impressive run in Affliction, where he topped former UFC heavyweight champions Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski. Emelianenko’s aura of invincibility came to an end under the Strikeforce banner, where he went on a three-fight skid with losses to current UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, the aforementioned Bigfoot and Dan Henderson. The sambo specialist ended his career on a high note by compiling a three-fight winning streak that included knockouts of Satoshi Ishii and Rizzo."

Assuming he does sign with the UFC and he is put on the UFC 193 card, who would be an appropriate match-up for him?

Matt Mitrione and Gabriel Gonzaga are the only notable guys that aren't already booked. The best thing they could do is match him against the winner of Mir/Arlovski. However if the winner of Mir/Arlovski is unable to make the quick turnaround, they should have him fight Velasquez in a #1 contender bout. Winner rematches Werdum.

Maybe it cro cop. I mean I scratch his match with Hamilton. That matchup, seemed kinda stupid anyways and not going to sell anything. However a rematch with Fedor is a money fight and shows where fedor is.

who wants to watch mma when college football is going on? if y'all would have listened to the master and taken all the double digit home underdogs you would have went 8-1. starting with montana as a 14 and 1/2 point dog vs north dakota state and going thru northwestern a 12 point underdog who beat stanford and limited them to 6 measly points.  Both western and central michigan covering the point spread. even SMU covered vs baylor by a couple a points. this week UTSA is a 17 point home dog at home vs K-state. kansas state has never won an indoor game, never 0-7. utsa plays in san antonio dome and looked impressive last week even though they lost to zone last week in a close game. Rutgers is going to put the smack down vs wazzou. buy the points though. wazzou lost to a crappy fcs team while rutgers scored over 60 with the first string qb only playing the second half. not to mention wazzou has to travel 2900 miles to new jersey to play that game. take BYU vs boise. BSU qb only helped them score 16 points at home vs a depleted huskies defense. BYU did lose their qb but tanner magnum is a 22 yo freshman  (2 year mission and redshirt) but passed for 120 yards and 7/11 plus the hail mary pass that won them the game vs nebraska. he can run the ball too. nebraska'a qb is alot better then finley and its a revenge game for byu. BYU is loaded at wr and they have all
tall receivers while boise has small cb's. DW still sucks **** and i would like to shove down a cupcake down his fat throat. Adios sucka's.
