Wiki

Yoshiyuki Yoshida Wiki

One of the most accomplished Judokas ever to enter the world of professional mixed martial arts, Japanese welterweight Yoshiyuki Yoshida earned an impressive 9-2 record prior to joining the UFC in 2008. Although he earned first-round submission victories over the likes of Jon Koppenhaver—later known as War Machine—and Brandon Wolff, Yoshida demonstrated an inability to take hard punches by powerful strikers, as he was knocked out badly by Josh Koscheck and Anthony Johnson before losing a decision, and a contract, in 2010. Following his UFC career, Yoshida made a move to the Bellator Fighting Championships.

Aside from a 4th degree black belt in Judo, Yoshida is probably one of the most skilled Japanese fighters at utilizing the cage to his advantage, as he fought predominantly in a cage prior to joining the UFC in 2008. The majority of Japanese fighters fight in rings.
