Since it's a slow day in the world of MMA, I thought it would be cool to talk about Tapology and ourselves.. anything at all regarding the same.  I'll get a brief start going..

I live in PA, am 30 and have been a fan of MMA since I was a teenager.  Work for the railroad and rarely ever miss an event regardless of promotion/stature.  I like Tapology b/c of the environment it fosters.  I wish we could edit/delete our posts... maybe have categories of threads for the forums, but all in all, I appreciate the type of place this is thus far.

November med. calories + co worker update

14 calories more than last month.  No biggie negatively. Positive really since I had two cheat days this month.

I get my ab roller soon and some more healthy snackies.

Becoming a healthy person will happen.  I feel it coming.

As for my co worker
well
he reneged
he said that work is already stressful enough
he said that he is temped
he said that it wasn't a rejection
he said that if he changed his mind, he has my number
he is an autist like me
both undiagnosed of course  :)
he is a sensitive fella
i always seem to be attracted to those kinds
I have to try and not be rude to him ( I mean reneged on sex???? that is turrible and poor manners)
if not rude, maybe i get the ****?

I crashed today

After 3 3/4 months, I have ordered out.
I am getting a  Chimichanga and coke.

I feel pretty bad about it.
I hope this doesn't mean i am going to completely fall off the wagon.
This month hasnt been the best.
My goals are to eat no more than 1400 calories for workdays.
I've got a few 1600s in there.

I just hate the cold.
Cold makes me want to eat more.
I live in Wisconsin.

I suppose i have to see if i am strong enough to do this as i can't go forever without ordering food.
I just have to not try and rationalize it to the point of i am ordering more than once very few months.

Suit yourself... but modern medicine is way to make your life dramatically better. These drugs help regulate the chemicals that make you think you need to pig out. It helps fix a problem that's not your fault.

You shouldn't take a medicinal shortcut in losing weight unless you have a genuine medical problem. It's just wiillpower, stoicism in regards to pushing through the hard to get to a healthier better life. And i wouldn't trust chemicals that rewire your brain unless necessary situations like a clinical lack of serotonin. Anyway ordering out isn't a failure, its a bump in the road, id imagine youve still made noticeable progress.

The above mentality is a big barrier to increasing the health and well-being of millions of people.

For a huge number of people it's not just a matter of being disciplined or having willpower. When your body and brain are constantly signalling and pushing you to eat, eat, eat... well that's a disorder or a chemical imbalance. And is a battle you are in all likelihood going to lose.  And then when you lose it will be compounded by feeling like **** / like a failure because the prevailing message you get from the culture around you is that it's your fault for being weak.

Separately, look at it from a government / waste point of view. If you don't want the government to be spending billions if not trillions of dollars (from your taxes) on a social safety net medical system to deal with the repercussions of having a morbidly obese population, then you should definitely be in favor of solutions like this which will prevent tons of medical problems down the road for people. Make the population healthy = lower taxes.

The mentality of relying on medical shortcuts for something that the majority of most people can do with just some willpower is just weakness. I acknowledged that some have issues with chemical imbalances but if you use food as a crutch then come up with something healthier, like running or a sport, same boost of serotonin but more long term and you don't become a fat slob. Obesity is a problem not because people refuse to take some medicine that rewires your brain, but because it's been normalized and something that is objectively unhealthy is being branded as beautiful and exceptional. I wonder what would make you feel more accomplished; " I exercised and eat healthily now i live a better lifestyle" or "i took some pills now i still eat like **** and dont exercise but the pills have destroyed my appetite".
