Harold Howard is a retired Canadian mixed martial artist best known for competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship's third tournament. A high level jujutsu and karate practitioner in Canada, Howard fought his way to the finals of the UFC 3 tournament where he lost to alternate Steve Jennum. Howard's initial opponent, Royce Gracie, had withdrawn from the tournament due to exhaustion. Howard fought two more times, both losses, before retiring permanently.
He is perhaps best remembered for this unintentionally hilarious quote from his UFC 3 pre-fight video vignette: "My name is Harold Clarence Howard. I'm representing Canada and Niagara Falls in the Ultimate Fighting Challenge. We have a saying back home that is if you're coming on [removes sunglasses], COME ON!"
Howard is currently serving a prison sentence for two counts of attempted murder. When not incarcerated he works as a roofer and operates a small martial arts school, Howards's Self Defense Systems in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
