Jaqueline Amorim Wiki

Jaqueline de Moraes Amorim is a Brazilian Strawweight mixed-martial artist fighting for the Legacy Fighting Alliance. She was born in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. Amorim became interested in combat sports at an early age, watching Royce Gracie and PRIDE fights with her father. Amorim's father was an aspiring BJJ competitor who had to abandon his dreams to look after his family once Amorim was born, but he helped her follow her dreams by enrolling her in BJJ classes at an early age.

In 2003, Amorim began training at A.S.L.E., an esteemed BJJ academy where Jacare Souza, Ary Farias, and many others learned under the tutelage of Henrique Machado and other coaches. Amorim trained at A.S.L.E.  for eleven years and developed extensive knowledge of BJJ, judo, and freestyle wrestling. Amorim even competed in freestyle wrestling for the Brazilian national cadet squad. In 2014 Amorim switched teams to study under Faustino Neto (a.k.a Mestre Pina), and two years later Amorim and her husband were invited to train and teach at Checkmat Charleston Brazililan Jiu Jitsu in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Amorim's is a BJJ black belt under Neto with exemplary credentials. Her tournament wins are too numerous two list here, but most notably she was the 2012 CBJJ Brasileiro Champion (blue belt juveniles), 2014 UAEJJF Abu Dhabi World Pro Champion (purple belt), 2013 and 2014 BJJF World No-Gi Champion (purple belt 2013, brown belt 2014), and a two time IBJJF World Champion (2013 and 2014 purple belt). She also won two IBJJF Open tournaments in 2017.

Amorim began training at American Top Team during the COVID-19 pandemic and made the transition to MMA in 2020, defeating Luana Nogueira via first round armbar at Mr. Cage 42. As of 8/30/2022, Amorim is 5-0 with five first round finishes (four submissions, one KO). She is set to face Ashley Nichols at the main event of LFA 142 for the Legacy Fighting Alliance Strawweight Championship.
