Wiki

Hikaru Hasumi Wiki

in 2017, Hasumi fought under Lethwei-rules at the "Lethwei in Japan 3: Grit" event, against a tough Burmese phenom in Thar A Thae Ta Twint. He showed a strong fighting spirit despite being clearly outclassed by the Burma man, and fighting under unfamiliar rules. The ref stopped the contest in round 2 to save Hasumi from further punishment. Hasumi would protest the stoppage, wanting to continue regardless of the visible damage to his face. Despite a loss he gave a worthy showing, scoring several powerful trip and toss takedowns throughout. Up until the stoppage he controlled the clinch / grappling area of the bout almost at will. He also landed some of his own power shots and in flurries, but would gradually succumb to his opponents more clinical striking, after his takedowns began to be staved off. A slight weight disadvantage was perhaps also a factor.
