My MMA Rankings
Hellowhosthat Womens Bantamweight plus rankings
Have to have fought in last 2 years to be ranked. Fighters still active who haven't fought are in kind of a mini-ranking at the bottom (Talita)
-
1
- Kayla Harrison
- 17-1-0
-
1990 - USA - UFC
Main concern at 135 was whether she would be able to make the weight. She proved she could and she also proved it didn't impact her performance against Holly. Now allowed to use elbows in the UFC which should make her even more of a nightmare on the top than she was in the PFL. Throws and trips obviously top class, great double leg, insane top pressure and control. Feels like the belt is being kept warm for her.
-
2
- Julianna Peña
- "The Venezuelan Vixen"
- 10-5-0
-
1989 - USA - UFC
Former champ had her upset win decisively avenged by Nunes but kept fighting and showed toughness to keep trying to win for 5 rounds even when a bit outmatched. Has gone frustratingly inactive since then, it felt like the belt was hers for the taking when Amanda retired but now Kayla has turned up it might not be.
-
3
- Raquel Pennington
- "Rocky"
- 16-8-0
-
1988 - USA - UFC Champion
Made the most out of the sum of her parts, it doesn't feel like she'll be champion for long. She's still got good heart, toughness and desire and will try her utmost to stay in any fight even if I don't think she's that skilled. Boxing is solid enough, has good sub defence, pretty strong against the cage and can often find a way to exploit areas opponents are weak in be it pushing Chiasson against the cage or getting to the cardio of MBS.
-
4
- Irene Aldana
- 15-7-0
-
1988 - Mexico - UFC
Very good boxing, very tough and pushes through and generally wins if a fight turns into a war of attrition. Only really lost to more technical or stronger girls in recent years.
-
5
- Ketlen Vieira
- "Fenômeno"
- 14-3-0
-
1991 - Brazil - UFC
Hasn't really developed into the threat it looked like she might do early in her UFC career but remains a solid member of the top 10. Decent enough everywhere to get by and good at winning rounds in judges eyes.
-
6
- Mayra Bueno Silva
- "Sheetara"
- 10-3-1, 1 NC
-
1991 - Brazil - UFC
Failed in her title shot, but shown an aggressive sub game to get finishes on girls while working her way up the ranks. Cardio questionable over a long fight but seems better at 135 than she did a division down. Very dangerous early which is when she wraps up most of her finishes.
-
7
- Holly Holm
- "The Preacher's Daughter"
- 15-7-0, 1 NC
-
1981 - USA - UFC
Former UFC champ, relaly old at this point but still decent in a weak division. If she can keep space she's still more than capable of ish ishing her way to a decision, can hold people against the cage too, but doesn't seem the KO threat she used to be. Last two losses pretty clear.
-
8
- Macy Chiasson
- 9-3-0
-
1991 - USA - UFC
Had a bit of a stop start career, couple of weird losses over the years but was doing well in the Aldana fight before getting memed. Strong, hits with decent enough pop and a good grappler, takes back well and can hit an RNC. Feels like she hasn't truly reached her potential.
-
9
- Norma Dumont
- "The Immortal"
- 11-2-0
-
1990 - Brazil - UFC
Developing into a solid fighter that I tend to underrate. Not too bad on the feet, does carry a bit of power and has good off balancing and subsequent trips when she gets to the clinch. Nice tight top control keeps girls down, although could get off more in the way of damage than she does.
-
10
- Karol Rosa
- 17-6-0
-
1994 - Brazil - UFC
Didn't lose anything in defeat against Aldana, showed that she could hang in a brutal fight with a girl who's been at the top division for a while. Clearly tough to add to being a good grappler.
-
11
- Germaine de Randamie
- "The Iron Lady" | 10-5-0
-
1984 - Netherlands - UFC
Former 155 UFC champ but looked a bit like she might just be back to get a couple of paydays with the last couple of fights on her UFC deal in the Dumont fight. Takedown defence actually seemed worse than it was before and wasn't really making much in the way of significant efforts to get back to her feet. Looked a bit washed, but maybe a bit of ring rust too.
-
12
- Miesha Tate
- "Cupcake" | 20-9-0
-
1986 - USA - UFC
Looked much better than she had recently against Avila, wrestling still there when she decided she wanted to rely on it. Struggles in the striking now she's older and slower so tends to lose when she goes with that gameplan. Next fight will show if she can keep up what she showed against Julia.
-
13
- Pannie Kianzad
- "Banzai" | 16-8-0
-
1991 - Sweden - UFC
Kind of the definition of sort of okay. She's not a bad striker, not much power but hands and pace okay and mixes in leg kicks. Strong enough to hold her own against the cage and her top grappling isn't bad. Just doesn't really have much for people who are particularly good in any area they can take advantage of her in.
-
14
- Julia Avila
- "Raging Panda" | 9-3-0
-
1988 - USA - UFC
Looked a potential contender a few years ago but then couldn't do anything about the grappling against Sarge, has now had a kid and confirmed her grappling deficiency against Miesha. She's a fast starter and will come out and try and batter girls early with decent power, but if you can get her down, she's probably not getting back up that round.
-
15
- Nora Cornolle
- "Wonder" | 8-1-0
-
1989 - France - UFC
Dealt with Melissa much better than I thought she'd be able to. Nice and physical, even if her grappling isn't that technical she's going to be able to stay on the feet a lot due to sheer physicality. Kickboxing background which shines through well in her MMA game, nice body kicks and knees.
-
16
- Melissa Tonya Mullins
- "No Mess" | 6-1-0
-
1991 - England - UFC
Very good top control and gets damage off well, hard to take down herself and shown she can deal with judokas well when Rizlen was trying to throw her. Has had a worrying habit of getting tagged on the feet lately. Not sure if it's a durability issue as when she's been dropped she has been tagged hard, but it's a problem.
-
17
- Talita Bernardo
- 10-4-0
-
1987 - Brazil - Invicta Champion
Limited and only really good at playing top BJJ but she's really, really good at getting girls down, holding position and burning the clock. Anyone with any weakness in TDD is going to have a tough night against her.
-
18
- Chelsea Chandler
- 6-2-0
-
1990 - USA - UFC
Mainly just big and strong but sometimes that's all you need to do okay in a weak division. Generally just pushes forward trying to be tough, strikes not technical, neither is wrestling really but can move girls about because she's so big. No striking defence really, liable to get tagged coming in by anyone who can strike a bit.
-
19
- Ailin Perez
- "Fiona" | 9-2-0
-
1994 - Argentina - UFC
Queen of cringe but a better fighter than I used to give her credit for. She's very physical and can muscle girls around a lot. Grappling and top control seems to be getting there and she seems to be making pretty rapid improvements now she can presumably train full time.
-
20
- Melissa Gatto
- 8-2-2
-
1996 - Brazil - UFC
On a bit of a skid but against good competition. Moving back up to bantamweight after a spell at flyweight and it'll probably suit her but time will tell.
-
21
- Josiane Nunes
- "Josi" | 10-2-0
-
1993 - Brazil - UFC
Pretty much just hard winged overhands with good power. Doesn't really seem to be any good at anything else, but it's somehow carried her quite far in her career.
-
22
- Jacqueline Cavalcanti
- 6-1-0
-
1997 - Portgual - UFC
On a solid run as of late and I remember not thinking she actually lost the fight against Jindrova either. Not the fastest but long and a decent technician on the feet who mixes stuff up pretty well and maintains a steady pace and has also proved she can do that for five rounds.
-
23
- Joselyne Edwards
- "La Pantera" | 13-5-0
-
1995 - Panama - UFC
Owner of perhaps the most hypnotic booty in the UFC but not particularly special as a fighter. She's pretty low paced, but does have a pretty decent jab. Grappling is good enough to get on top of girls with **** takedown defence. Liable to lose where she doesn't hold the physical advantage.
-
24
- Irina Alekseeva
- "Russian Ronda" | 5-2-0
-
1990 - Russia - UFC
Likes leglocks but puts herself in bad positions sometimes with them. Can crack on the feet but not really technical and her takedown defence is pretty bad. Seems gassy later in fights.
-
25
- Darya Zheleznyakova
- "The Iron Lady" | 9-1-0
-
1996 - Russia - UFC
A bit of a dissapointing UFC debut in all honesty given what she'd shown on the regionals. Didn't really seem to be able to hurt Rendon and marked up very easily. Still got the job done though. I do like it when she sits down on her punches and lets her long jab and cross go.
-
26
- Taneisha Tennant
- "Triple Threat" | 5-2-0
-
1989 - USA - Invicta
Pretty solid former Invicta champ who somehow blew her contender series chance against Danyelle Wolf. She's not very exciting but she's got good enough pitter patter boxing that allows her to win a lot of fights on points in a poor man's Holly Holm kind of way
-
27
- Stephanie Egger
- 8-5-0
-
1988 - Switzerland - Free Agent
Getting into her late 30's so we'll see if she returns after her UFC release. She's a solid grappler with a decent judo background, striking isn't really there and her offensive grappling work seems to be better than her defensive grappling work.
-
28
- Olga Rubin
- "Big Bad" | 9-3-0
-
1989 - Israel - Invicta
Former Bellator FW making 135 comfortably where she looks good and strong. Decent all round fighter, good in the clinch and can bully girls around from there. Ran the champ at the time Tennant very close and has put a couple of wins together since, feels like she should probably be the #1 contender there although she could probably also get a go in the UFC.
-
29
- Lucia Szabová
- "Silent Killer" | 7-0-0
-
1997 - Slovakia - Oktagon
Youngster who was coming up at the same time in Oktagon as Tereza Bleda but decided to have a kid. Seems like she's been focusing more on her grappling during her time off, striking actually looked a little bit rustier than it did before but her wrestling looked much improved, especially body lock trips. Good top control and positional switching on the ground, quite aggressive going for subs and will sometimes give up position going for them. Big potential.
-
30
- Montserrat Rendon
- "Monster" | 6-1-0
-
1989 - Mexico - UFC
Kind of working towards being an experiment on how far you can get at 135 by basically being strong, willing to eat punches and working out a lot and having good cardio. She doesn't do much but walk forward throwing uncordinated punches and then holding against the fence, but she actually seems to mark girls up doing it and they seem to find it tough to beat her.
-
31
- Tamires Vidal
- "Tratora" | 7-2-0
-
1998 - Brazil - UFC
Pretty explosive and had some good pre-UFC wins but didn't fight too well when the fight slowed down against Rendon. Will try and prove that was just a blip.
-
32
- Tainara Lisboa
- "Thai Panther" | 7-2-0
-
1991 - Brazil - UFC
Thai boxer who's had a fairly favourable stylistic start to UFC life. Has more subs in her arsenal than you'd expect from a kickboxer, but time will tell if that's going to work against the higher level girls as she approaches the rankings.
-
33
- Lucie Pudilová
- 14-9-0
-
1994 - Czechia - UFC
Aggressive and high volume, will go for the finish on the feet or the ground if she gets a good position although she doesn't hit too hard. Quite a big grappling hole, struggles badly against girls with good wrestling and BJJ.
-
34
- Rizlen Zouak
- "The Lioness of the Atlas" | 8-5-0
-
1986 - Morocco - Ares Champion
Olympic judoka who does use offensive throws well in MMA and has other ways of dragging girls down. Very short for the division and struggles to get inside, has to take a lot of punches when stuck standing but pretty tough. Generally someone you can rely on to fight to her potential.
-
35
- Queila Braga
- "Queila Braga" | 7-2-0
-
1987 - Brazil - Centurion FC
Probably more a flyweight if she's actually cutting but fights pretty well at this weight to keep herself active. Fairly old for a prospect but she's got very solid striking and her grappling is developing fine.
-
36
- Hailey Cowan
- "All Hail" | 7-3-0
-
1992 - USA - UFC
Did you know she used to be a swimmer? Doesn't seem to make her that great at MMA yet though. She is pretty strong though and can get on top and feast on low level girls that way.
-
37
- Gisele Moreira
- "Gi" | 12-6-0
-
1981 - Brazil - Ares
Old as ****, moving up to 145 to fight Fairn but not sure if that's a permanent move or not. Looked pretty ageless until the Zouak fight but then seemed to age overnight against a girl she'd beaten comfortably just a couple of years before.
-
38
- Kelly Ottoni
- 5-0-0
-
1985 - Brazil - Jungle Fight Champion
Sister of the Poatan slayer, Kelly is an insanely late starter having been 36 when she had her first ever fight. She's a rough ************ though and is full of toughness and heart as she piles forward trying to hurt people. Not the most skilled being a late starter but she's game to throw down with anyone.
-
39
- Mariana Morais
- "The Razor" | 18-12-0
-
1995 - Brazil - Peak Fighting
Dropped down to 135 after leaving PFL as it seems all the girls fight significantly above their weigh there. Didn't actually do too badly there, got inevitably smashed by Kayla but okay otherwise. Seemed a solid journeywoman on the Brazilian scene before she went there and is pretty young considering her experience.
-
40
- Ravena Oliveira
- "Kenoudy" | 7-2-1
-
1997 - UFC - Brazil
A pretty random addition to the division in the UFC seeing as she's pretty much fought nobody on the regionals, mostly debutants infact. Didn't do much to dispel doubts about her UFC worth in her debut against Lisboa either.
-
41
- Claire Guthrie
- "Grizzly" | 5-3-0
-
1995 - USA - United Fight League
TUF vet who's finding life pretty tough since finishing the show and is on a bit of a losing streak. She's pretty strong which is probably her main quality as she is able to overwhelm a lot of girls in clinches and grappling, but if she can't do that she seems to run out of ideas.
-
42
- Cláudia Leite
- 8-3-0
-
1996 - Brazil - UAE Warriors
Lost against Hailey Cowan on the contender series and now back to grinding out decisions on the regionals. Her fight against Cowan was pretty close so if she keeps at it she might get invited back one day.
-
43
- Yanan Wu
- "Mulan" | 13-7-0
-
1996 - China - Kunlun Fight
Long streak of losses lead to UFC release, followed that up with a loss in Kunlun Fight, but it was against a top prospect in Wang Cong to be fair to her.
-
44
- Melissa Croden
- "Scare" | 5-2-0
-
Canada - LFA
Decent fighter. Only losses are against UFC fighter Cavalcanti and Evelyn Martins who's now in PFL. Was competitive in both and recently finished TUF veteran Lehner. Strong and tough with decent grappling and a good will to win.
-
45
- Katharina Lehner
- 8-5-0
-
1990 - Germany - LFA
Not very good but she's tough. Gets beaten up more often than not over recent years but takes much higher ranked girls a little while to get her out of there.
-
46
- Serena DeJesus
- "The Southpaw Outlaw" | 6-3-0
-
1992 - USA - CFFC
Scrappy girl who loves to go to war. Left Invicta presumably due to them running less shows and is now in CFFC. Willing to take a couple to land a couple which can leave her at a disadvantage against more technically sound or faster girls.
-
47
- Sarah Frota
- "A Treta" | 11-4-0
-
1987 - Brazil - CAVE MMA
Back fighting low level girls after losing loads of fights in the UFC and then going on a losing streak afterwards. Picked up a couple of wins since but not sure how she expects to be a success at this weight when she got muscled about by a girl who now fights at 115.
-
48
- Jasmine Favero
- "The Bull" | 3-0-0
-
2000 - Italy - Cage Warriors
Top prospect who's passing the eye test to this point. Very good amateur who only lost at the IMMAFS to De Souza who's the female ammy goat. Rolling through everyone with pretty early finishes in the pros but yet to really face much in the way of real competition.
-
49
- Mayra Cantuária
- 10-5-1, 1 NC
-
1988 - Brazil - Invicta
Moved up from 125 after a couple of tough losses and got a sub win in her debut at the weight. Does go after finishes and might do slightly better in a shallower division. Does get stuck on her back pretty easily.
-
50
- Firuza Sharipova
- 3-0-0
-
1994 - Kazakhstan - Octagon
Top class boxer who dabbles in MMA a bit. Results so far are promising, seems pretty adept at grappling and goes for back takes and chokes, but has only fought absolute cans at this point.
-
51
- Hope Chase
- "Hurricane" | 3-2-0
-
1998 - USA - LFA
Very physical but very spazzy, just tries to rely on aggression. Has some of the most terrible karate stance striking I've ever seen, I'm not really sure how it qualifies as karate. She is pretty strong in the clinch but makes a lot of balance and positional errors. Will run over some girls just based on strength though.
-
52
- Lisa Verzosa
- "Battle Angel" | 6-2-0
-
1995 - USA - Invicta
Unranked as hasn't fought for two years - Former Invicta title challenger, lost an entertaining war to Stoliarenko and only ever lost to her and Tennant who were both champs there. Kind of okay by WMMA standards, bit of a brawler, but tough girl.
My Summary
