Hellowhosthat Womens Flyweight rankings
Have to have fought in last 2 years to be ranked. Fighters still active who haven't fought are in kind of a mini-ranking at the bottom (50)
-
1
- Alexa Grasso
- 16-3-1
-
1993 - Mexico - UFC Champion
I kind of thought she might have caught Valentina with a bit of a meme finish the first time they fought, but even though the rematch was a draw it cemented that she's on the same level as the long time divisional Queen. Still undefeated since she moved up from 115 and now gets her very own season of TUF to boot.
-
2
- Valentina Shevchenko
- "Bullet"
- 23-4-1
-
1988 - Kyrgyzstan - UFC
Divisional GOAT is clearly on the downslide of her career but is still a force to be reckoned with. Very good case for winning the Grasso rematch and is still the best all round fighter in the division from a technical level. Physical advantages she used to enjoy might be declining a bit as for the first time she's not looking miles stronger than the girls she's fighting. Still absolutely wouldn't rule her taking the title back out.
-
3
- Manon Fiorot
- "The Beast"
- 12-1-0
-
1990 - France - UFC
The best fighter in the division for my money but I guess she's got to prove it. She's ******* huge for the weight and her length makes it easy for her to just pick girls apart from range. She's very strong so if someone does manage to get inside and close the distance then they've got a job on to get her down. She's got pretty great throws if she wants them too. Will surely fight for the title next after her dominant win over Blanchfield.
-
4
- Erin Blanchfield
- "Cold Blooded"
- 12-2-0
-
1999 - USA - UFC
Looks like she may have some issues with good strong strikers that she can't get to the ground in the Fiorot fight but that only really applies to Manon and Valentina around her at the moment. Decent enough on the feet to stand with most people and her takedowns are good enough to get down most people where there's a significant gap on the feet to allow her to get to her excellent BJJ.
-
5
- Taila Santos
- 20-3-0
-
1993 - Brazil - PFL
One of the weirdest UFC releases in recent memory but will now be gunning for a million in the PFL. Highly competitive in losses to Val and Erin and has beaten other girls easy enough. One of the strongest fighters in the division if not the strongest, with solid boxing and a very good top game.
-
6
- Liz Carmouche
- "Girl-Rilla"
- 21-7-0
-
1984 - USA - PFL
Dunno whether Liz is still classed as the Bellator champ or not now she's entered the PFL season but she's still been on a great streak since leaving the UFC, thrice beating former champ Velasquez among others. I think if she gets to fight Taila it'll give us an indication of how she would have done against the top UFC girls in the same period.
-
7
- Maycee Barber
- "The Future"
- 14-2-0
-
1998 - USA - UFC
Has come out of the other side of early career issues and is now starting to routinely beat decent quality fighters. Finally seems to understand that what makes her good is her physicality and is committing to pushing forward to throw hard or get on top and is spending less time trying to be a cardio kickboxer and throwing at air.
-
8
- Natália Silva
- 17-5-1
-
1997 - Brazil - UFC
Great striker who's constantly developing and seems to be moving into real contention. One of the widest offensive ranges in the division with solid boxing, a great variety of kicks and spins and speed, movement and cardio to boot. Takedown defence seems solid and has already seen off a couple of strong physical girls in Vivi and Bleda.
-
9
- Rose Namajunas
- "Thug"
- 12-6-0
-
1992 - USA - UFC
Doesn't seem to have the fire in her belly that made her the champion down at strawweight. Still has the skill to win a lot of matches on a technical level which should be enough against the majority of the division, but I just don't see her having that drive to beat the really top girls. Feels like she's on a good contract and is showing up to fulfil it.
-
10
- Katlyn Cerminara
- "Blonde Fighter"
- 18-6-0
-
1988 - USA - UFC
Seems to be dropping off a little bit, getting out pointed by girls she would probably have worked to a decision over to a few years ago. Probably thinking more about what's next after her career. Good all round fighter, just never had any power.
-
11
- Tracy Cortez
- 11-1-0
-
1993 - USA - UFC
Still undefeated in the UFC, struggles to get in there regularly which impacts momentum somewhat. Very good in the cage clinch and keeps a good workrate there, can strike from there or level change and will keep getting mat returns. Doesn't seem to get bigger fights I think she deserves.
-
12
- Juliana Velasquez
- 12-3-0
-
1986 - Brazil - PFL
Good fighter who's been unfortunate to have to fight Liz Carmouche a bunch of time. While Carmouche seems to be her bogeywoman she's generally been fine against everyone else. Strong in clinches, good at cage pushing and using judo trips to get on top of girls, striking nothing special but serviceable.
-
13
- Amanda Ribas
- 12-5-0
-
1993 - Brazil - UFC
Much prefer her at 115 than at flyweight. A bit on the small side and it makes her difficult to level change if she wants to. Kind of ends up stuck on the feet brawling away. Not bad at that as she's tough and throws a lot even if she's not very technical but stronger girls an issue.
-
14
- Viviane Araujo
- "Vivi" | 12-6-0
-
1986 - Brazil - UFC
Very strong and capable of overwhelming people physically. Suspect gas tank when the fight goes long and getting on the old side so that's not likely to improve. Decent wrestling and good top control when she can get there.
-
15
- Jennifer Maia
- 21-10-1
-
1988 - Brazil - Free Agent
Bit of a harsh cut from the UFC, interesting to see what she does next. Fairly solid all round, doesn't really excel at anything but competent enough and was a good gatekeeper to see if someone had it at the top level or not. Perhaps too good at it for her own good.
-
16
- Lauren Murphy
- "Lucky" | 16-6-0
-
1983 - USA - UFC
Tough as old boots, will take a licking and keep on ticking. Pretty strong in the clinch, pushes her strikes a bit but she does throw a reasonable amount. No idea how she ever got a title shot but she's a hard worker and always tries her best.
-
17
- Karine Silva
- "Killer" | 18-4-0
-
1993 - Brazil - UFC
Aggressive sub fighter, very strong and comes at girls fast and early. Seems to have really turned things around since early career losses. Good from back body lock, strong at trip throw from there. Good at taking and holding the back. Threatens subs on top to keep things moving. Did slow down quite a bit in the third against Lipski so cardio might be somewhat of an issue.
-
18
- Jasmine Jasudavicius
- 10-3-0
-
1989 - Canada - UFC
Big strong girl for the weight. Comes forward with purpose trying to hurt people and fight hard in the clinch. Can be hit but tough and doesn't seem to give a ****. Struggles a little bit with girls who are a lot faster than her on the feet if she can't take them down.
-
19
- Miranda Maverick
- "Fear The" | 13-5-0
-
1997 - USA - UFC
Fights at a good pace and a solid wrestler with good top control and back takes. Seemed to have improved on the timing of her striking in the Lee fight as I thought she'd lose the striking in that one. Struggles a bit when she doesn't enjoy a physical advantage.
-
20
- Ariane Lipski
- "Queen of Violence" | 17-9-0
-
1994 - Brazil - UFC
Starting to finally fulfil her potential after a spotty start to her UFC career. Solid enough kickboxing with some aggressive subs mixed in even if she isn't really a BJJ player, but she is pretty good at staying safe on the bottom. Loses her back a lot standing and on the mat if she's against a good back taker like Silva. Cardio pretty good, maintains same pace throughout the fight.
-
21
- Casey O'Neill
- "King" | 9-2-0
-
1997 - Scotland - UFC
Good top grappler, had a bad knee injury while on her good run and has lost a couple since. Not sure if that's because she's not the same or just because she's fighting higher level competition now. Had a nice run where she was getting loads of ground and pound off, either getting finishes with that or using it to open up subs. Still young and seems invested in the game so not giving up on her just yet.
-
22
- Andrea Lee
- "KGB" | 13-9-0
-
1989 - USA - UFC
Seems mentally out of it to me. Decent enough kickboxer who's pretty strong, has some decent offensive throws and fairly solid top control (although not much damage from there) but seems to be getting hit more and more and is starting to look a bit gun shy because of it.
-
23
- Maryna Moroz
- "Iron Lady" | 11-6-0
-
1991 - Ukraine - UFC
Seems to have reached her ceiling. Decent offensive grappler against girls who don't have good takedown defence. Holds top pretty well if she can get there. Tough and willing to get in slugfests on the feet but better offensively than defensively and gets cracked a lot.
-
24
- Ilima-Lei Macfarlane
- "The Ilimanator" | 13-3-0
-
1990 - USA - Bellator
Hasn't officially retired but has seemed to have one foot out of the game for ages. Nowhere near the fighter she was in her prime, barely makes weight. Never really had good striking but doesn't seem to be training it at all now. Still got decent BJJ when she gets chance to use it.
-
25
- Kana Watanabe
- 13-2-1
-
1988 - Japan - PFL
Strong and with good judo trips and top grappling, takes and holds the back well. Striking not so hot, defensively suspect, not sure about her chin after getting flatlined by Carmouche. Cardio pretty good considering how muscular she is.
-
26
- Veronica Hardy
- 9-4-1
-
1995 - Venezuela - UFC
Enjoying the best form of her career and still relatively young despite having being in the UFC for so long. Seems to be timing her striking much better and sitting down on things much more. Finally fighting at the right weight class which helps. Good kicks from TKD background. Pretty nimble movement wise and her upper body takedown defence is pretty decent. Has an active guard, slightly loose in terms of the stuff she throws up but she's flexible and gets her legs in play well.
-
27
- Denise Kielholtz
- "Miss Dynamite" | 8-5-0
-
1989 - Netherlands - PFL
Very good striker and former high level kickboxer who's adapted to MMA pretty well. A little bit small for 125 and I think she'd probably be a strawweight in any division that had that weight class. A little bit of a deficiency in grappling against girls who are good at that, but good enough at it to survive against most. Should have really had a run with the title as I thought she beat Velasquez when they fought.
-
28
- JJ Aldrich
- 13-7-0
-
1992 - USA - UFC
Looks like a quiet lass who'd work in a library but is actually one of the better flyweights on the planet. Tough girl who always seems to outperform her athleticism level. Most of her losses are to good girls and she comes forward a lot, mixes things up well and gets good volume in to win decisions. Clinches a lot if she's against a faster girl, problem is her upper body takedowns kind of suck so she struggles to get them to the mat.
-
29
- Dakota Ditcheva
- "Dangerous" | 11-0-0
-
1998 - England - PFL
Passes the eye test with flying colours but PFL insist on giving her layups for some reason. Super fast pace, varied offence, very aggressive, great front kicks straight to the face, good offensive wrestling also. I do think she could well be one of the best flys in the world but they need to give her the chance to prove it, which I guess they will have to if she's going to win the season.
-
30
- Jena Bishop
- 7-0-0
-
1986 - USA - PFL
Very high level BJJ player and a late starter in terms of switching over to MMA but she's adapting her game really well to it so far. Won the LFA title then presumably got passed on by the UFC due to age but has done well in Bellator and then PFL. Knows what she's good at and engages in the grappling as soon as possible and is very dominant from there, strong, passes positions really well and hunts down subs. Two of the girls she beat in LFA went on to the UFC so looks a bit silly they passed on her in retrospect.
-
31
- DeAnna Bennett
- "Vitamin D" | 13-8-1
-
1984 - USA - Bellator
Probably one of the most underrated flyweights in the sport although she's getting a bit on the older side now. Still experience helps and although she doesn't really hit hard or anything she does push a decent pace, mixes her grappling in with her striking well and knows how to win rounds. Solid gatekeeper although who knows what the takeover means for her.
-
32
- Montana De La Rosa
- 12-9-1
-
1995 - USA - UFC
Been a while since she's picked up a win but she's been in with some tough competition. Not a great striker but she's tough and she'll push forward with it. Good wrestler and gets decent damage off on top. Has been fairly competitive in her losses.
-
33
- Antonina Shevchenko
- "La Pantera" | 10-4-0
-
1984 - Kyrgyzstan - UFC
Bit inactive lately and getting near 40 so could drop off significantly when she fights again. Grappling not bad offensively, not so good defensively so tends to win or lose appropriate to her skill level there. Striking fine, not really any power on it but long enough punches and kicks.
-
34
- Luana Carolina
- "Dread" | 10-4-0
-
1993 - Brazil - UFC
Not good at making fights clear cut but pretty awkward to fight. Long, striking a bit spazzy but tends to land it. Quite decent TDD and framing against the cage. Not very good when it hits the mat but fights pretty well to avoid it going there. Prone to making you **** yourself if you bet on her by engaging in things she shouldn't and doesn't need to.
-
35
- Justine Kish
- "The Machine" | 9-6-0
-
1988 - USA - Bellator
Solid but unspectacular. Kish keeps a decent workrate, doesn't have any power but lands a fair amount like a poor man's Chook. Takedown defence is fine, probably caught MacFarlane on a bad night but has generally always been competitive even in defeat.
-
36
- Priscila Cachoeira
- "Zombie Girl" | 12-6-0
-
1988 - Brazil - UFC
Zombie girl is pretty far from being technically good but she's one of the hardest hitters at the weight so she's usually live in a fight. Likes to bully people but does not enjoy being on the other side of that equation. Also one of the dirtiest fighters in the sport, more than happy to cheat to get an advantage and quite often gets away with it.
-
37
- Tereza Bledá
- 7-1-0
-
2001 - Czechia - UFC
Probably a bit underrated at the moment, ran into Natalia Silva but that loss looks fine in hindsight. She's pretty massive for the division, she's got really good top control, her wrestling leaves a bit to be desired sometimes against girls with really good TDD but she's strong and can rag girls down. Striking defence needs work as head up in the air at the moment. Does tend to slow down later in fights.
-
38
- Lara Fritzen
- 9-2-0
-
1995 - Brazil - Imortal FC
Kind of a harsh UFC release I thought, toiling away on the Brazilian regional scene picking up easy wins but seems to be struggling to get meaningful fights.
-
39
- Julija Stoliarenko
- 11-8-1
-
1993 - Lithuania - UFC
I never thought she'd be able to consistently make this weight but she's doing it so far. She's still the same tough armbar spammer she was at the weight above though, but I guess she's slightly stronger in comparison to her opposition than she was.
-
40
- Victoria Dudakova
- 8-0-0
-
1999 - Russia - UFC
Moved up in weight after a couple of dicey cuts to 115 and pulled out through illness, seems to be a permanent move though so I'll rank her here. She's a good grappler, very good control on top and has some pretty cool open guard **** from bottom if she chooses to use it. Striking is a work in progress but young and does seem to be improving.
-
41
- Jamey-Lyn Horth
- 6-1-0
-
1990 - Canada - UFC
Relied on strength and physicality advantage a lot in the regionals but it's a bit less regular for her to find herself with that advantage in the UFC. Won the LFA title with good strong wrestling and top control, but isn't the fastest so if she can't get hold of girls it's tough for her to get them down and keep them there.
-
42
- Victoria Leonardo
- "Fury" | 9-5-0
-
1990 - USA - UFC
Tough to get matched up much tougher than Victoria on the comeup when you consider that she's already been in there with Fiorot, Blanchfield, Natalia Silva, Maverick and Gatto. Adversity can make or break people though and when she's been in there with lesser quality fighters she's shown toughness and aggression in order to get some wins over some decent ones. It'd be nice for her to get a fight against a middle of the pack girl for once to see where she actually stands.
-
43
- Luana Santos
- 7-1-0
-
2000 - Brazil - UFC
Dropping back down to original division of fly after a successful first couple of UFC fights at 135 even though she missed weight at the higher division in her last fight there so we'll see how that goes. Pretty good judo and likes to attack scarfhold armbars, though that probably only works up to a certain level. Seems tough and not scared of a brawl.
-
44
- Ivana Petrović
- 7-1-0
-
1994 - Norway - UFC
Bit of a low rent Mackenzie Dern. Good grappler but really struggles with takedowns to get there against stronger girls. Once she's on top she's got good pressure and good finishes. Also got decent sweeps from guard, but probably only works up to a certain level.
-
45
- Gabriella Fernandes
- "Gabi" | 8-3-0
-
1993 - Brazil - UFC
A riot on the feet, but unable to keep it there so far in her UFC run. If she can get a tiny bit more TDD going so she can demonstrate the stand up prowess she was able to in LFA she's potentially someone who can end up in the top 10. If she doesn't tighten that up she's probably going to be a what if fighter though.
-
46
- Poliana Botelho
- 9-5-0
-
1988 - Brazil - Bellator
Had one of the absolute worst fights I've ever seen against Helen Peralta after leaving the UFC and promptly got signed by Bellator. Unfortunately she's got cancer, I'm not sure how she's doing in her fight with it but hopefully she's doing well and gets to fight again.
-
47
- Mariya Agapova
- "Demonslayer" | 10-4-0
-
1997 - Kazakhstan - UFC
Very violent, pretty dangerous early. Can't really defend takedowns, can't really grapple and has terrible cardio, but she's exciting for a couple of minutes against mid level girls. Fight against Mazo seems an anomaly at this stage.
-
48
- Sumiko Inaba
- "Lady Samurai" | 6-1-0
-
1991 - USA - Bellator
Decent striker, a little limited overall but solid enough on the feet, nice hands and keeps a solid pace throughout a fight. Lost stepup to a more versatile striker in Kielholtz though.
-
49
- Dione Barbosa
- "The Witch" | 7-2-0
-
1992 - Brazil - UFC
Judo black belt, good BJJ, doesn't really use her throws so much and goes for double legs. Striking okay early, seems to tire a bit if she can't get her opponent out of there and her shots become more obvious. Improving at Kings MMA.
-
50
- Juliana Miller
- "Killer" | 3-3-0
-
1996 - USA - UFC
Some of the absolute worst striking defence in the sport. To her credit she's tough but she really needs to be as she basically runs forward swinging wildly and eating punches. Her BJJ is actually really good 10th planet stuff but her takedowns suck so she kind of has to reply on ending up on the bottom and hitting sweeps, which she is good at but you can't really rely on your opponent to take you where you need to be at the top level.
-
51
- Ilara Joanne
- "Arya Stark" | 11-9-0
-
1994 - Brazil - PFL
Former Pitbull brothers receptionist has turned into a scrappy little fighter. Tough and with decent enough top wrestling and BJJ to take advantage of people with **** TDD allowing her to get wins against girls like Kielhotz or Lara but just tough on the feet really so if she can't get that going she's in trouble. She's also pretty small so bigger grapplers like Taila or Bishop just maul her a bit.
-
52
- Mandy Böhm
- "Monster" | 8-2-0, 1 NC
-
1989 - Germany - Free Agent
Annoyed the UFC with her acting in the Kim fight so much she ended up getting released coming off a win. Has been boxing since and picking up some wins, not sure if she plans on returning to MMA in the future or not.
-
53
- Sabina Mazo
- "Colombian Queen" | 10-4-0
-
1997 - Colombia - LFA Champion
Rebounded from being cut by the UFC by getting a win over Lavado to regain her old LFA title. She'd struggled a bit to stay off her back towards the end of her UFC run, so she'll need to work on that if she wants to return. Solid high kicks.
-
54
- Ernesta Kareckaite
- "Heavy-Handed" | 5-1-1
-
1998 - Lithuania - UFC
Probably in the UFC a bit too early but seems to be improving. Definitely tough and hard working, good gas tank and will throw down all fight. Does better as opponent fades and gas tank difference makes up for skill gap somewhat.
-
55
- Veta Arteaga
- 7-6-0
-
1987 - USA - Bellator
Tough brawler who'll make any fight into a scrap for as long as she can. Not particularly technically proficient but she comes to fight and she'll be in your face until you stop her.
-
56
- Brogan Walker
- "The Bear" | 7-4-0
-
1989 - USA - UFC
TUF runner up is a solid regional veteran who's not really found the step up to the majors easy. Losing to someone like Lucindo is understandable, but she really should be able to keep it on the feet against Miller and get a win. Needs a win in her next one to stay in the big leagues.
-
57
- Diana Avsaragova
- "Pantera" | 6-1-0
-
1998 - Russia - Bellator
Just doesn't really do much in her fights. Has okay boxing and I've seen her use pretty good wrestling before but she really struggles with volume and quite often stands at a bad range taking more offence than she's giving out.
-
58
- Shanna Young
- "The Shanimal" | 9-6-0
-
1991 - USA - PFL
Tough but a punching bag against anyone decent. She is pretty strong, doesn't get finished easily and is capable of coming back in a fight to get a finish if someone death gasses.
My Summary
